Canadian Supermodel Stacey McKenzie Brings Award Winning Modeling Workshops To Calgary

CALGARY, AB – On October 17 and 18, 2013, Canadian supermodel Stacey McKenzie will inspire, empower and educate a select group of aspiring models during the Western Canada debut of her award winning Walk This Way Workshops at Hotel Le Germain Calgary. Spread over two evenings, McKenzie will provide the workshops as part of the bimonthly ACTLIKEUKN_W series developed by leading fashion website, CalgaryFashion.ca.

From ruling the runways of Paris, Milan, London, New York and Toronto to gracing the glossies of publications like Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, McKenzie has taken the fashionable road less travelled to become a homegrown modelling sensation.

“I’m delighted to bring my workshops to an area known for its emerging talent within the fashion industry,” says McKenzie. “My goal is to prepare these aspiring models for the challenges they will face as they pursue their dreams in the arts, fashion, entertainment industries.”

This week, we’d like to introduce you to Judy Inc’s Fashion Stylist to the Stars, Tiffany Briseno!

What’s your official job title and where did you go to school?

I studied Fashion Design at George Brown College and then Ryerson University. I am currently a Wardrobe Stylist with Judy Inc.

Describe yourself in a nutshell (or sea shell, or any shell for that matter).

Creatively Conscious, art obssesed, dancer turned fashion aficionado.

Why did you pursue what you’re doing now? What was the inspiration?

From a young age I would watch my mom as model work with designers and other industry pros. My grandmother was also involved in the industry before that. She was  a costume designer and dance choreographer in the late 70’s to mid 80‘s. I was always drawn to the fashion industry I just didn’t know to what capacity. After graduating I briefly interned at Plutino Grp and was further exposed to the many facets of the beauty making industry.  After meeting the many artists that would come visit the agency and constantly reviewing their inspirational portfolios I knew I wanted to jump into the ring as a taste maker

What is the best part of your day-to-day?


The best part of my day-to-day is “living the dream” as they say. Making a living from something you love to do.

What’s the most challenging?

It’s been a challenge to find a good balance of both work and life. At times I get lost in the creative vortex of my job and it becomes difficult to not take on more projects.

If you took a look in the cliché crystal ball, what do you see for yourself?

I see myself expanding my reach overseas on a more frequent basis.

How do you embrace disruption in your work and personal life?

Yoga…Dance…and shaking off the unnecessary.

What is the most memorable moment in your career?

One of the most memorable moments is when I was one of the top ten finalist for the Nuit Blanche Design Competition.

Tell us what you see yourself doing at 65 years old.

I would like to have opened a non-profit art school in Mexico. I think that giving kids a chance to develop something they are passionate about will give them valuable tools for their future.

TORONTO, ON (May 28, 2013) – On July 8, 2013, Canadian Supermodel Stacey McKenzie will open the first annual Walk This Way Workshops Camp where she will inspire, empower and educate twenty inner city girls – with help from her celebrity friends. McKenzie will select applicants that exemplify the most enthusiasm, drive and uniqueness from several inner city Toronto public schools for this free of cost program.

McKenzie, having grown up in an impoverished environment, recognizes the need for young girls to receive esteem-centered workshops. “It’s extremely important that these girls have all the tools necessary to develop self-esteem and gain confidence through self acceptance,” says McKenzie. “We’re preparing them for the challenges they will face as they pursue their dreams and goals in the arts, fashion, entertainment industries.”

Over a two week period, the camp participants will have the opportunity to engage in a number of workshops including “Owning You”, a focus on personal style and public speaking; “Owning Your Health and Wellness”, a focus on nutrition and fitness; “Owning Your Craft”, an interactive look into the fashion, design, music and media industries; and “Rule Your Runway”, a chance to put all the information absorbed to use.

The workshops will be lead by a team of V.I.P. and celebrity mentors including Dina Pugliese (CityTV’s Breakfast Television), Gabrielle Miller (Actress, Corner Gas), Chelsea Chute (Lise Watier), Shawn Hewson (TV Personality and Creative Director of Bustle Clothing), VAWK (Fashion Designer), Emily Scarlett (H&M Canada), Andrea Bolley (Artist), and Rita Tesolin (Jewelry Designer).
