Raised for Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada
Some Of The Celebrities In Attendance
Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada’s Gala is an annual event sponsored by Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us. The money raised from the Gala goes towards funding Starlight’s in and out-of-hospital programming, which includes fun kits (essentials for unexpected hospital stays), hospital grants (funds for hospitals across the country to use on what kids need most), Fun Centres (portable stations equipped with a dvd player, Nintendo Wii, games and movies) and Day Brighteners (tickets to sports games, concerts and more).
Our objective was to gain media and public attention both locally and nationally, enhancing the success of the event and in turn, increasing the amount of funds and awareness raised for Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.
EDPR was responsible for numerous facets of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada Gala, including:
- Talent and media outreach
- Event website design and management
- Sponsorship ($65,000 was secured)
- Regular blogging for the foundation
- Social media strategy surrounding the event
On event day, talent and media wrangling became our main focus ensuring that photos, interviews and coverage was secured for our client.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation Gala raised over $500,000 for the charity. Celebrity guests included MTV Canada’s Aliya-Jasmine Sovani; Gala host and comedian, Carla Collins; Love It Or List It’s Hilary Farr; members of the JUNO nominated Canadian rock band The Trews, Jack Syperek, Sean Dalton and John-Angus MacDonald; Toronto Argonauts players John Chiles and Jonathan Hood; 2014 JUNO nominated musician Melanie Durrant; television personality Paul Venoit; ET Canada’s Sangita Patel; supermodel Stacey McKenzie; actress Tara Spencer-Nairn, and many other notable Canadians.
