Our objective was to gain media attention from local and national outlets enhancing the success of the event and in turn, increasing the amount of funds and awareness raised for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.
BACKGROUND
Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada Gala is an annual event sponsored by Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us. Proceeds go towards Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada; a charitable organization that brings smiles, laughter and joy back into the lives of children with serious illness or life-altering injury through in-hospital distractive entertainment and out-of-hospital fun family events.
HOW
EDPR was responsible for numerous facets of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada Gala, including:
- Talent and media outreach
- Event website design and management
- Sponsorship
- Social media strategy surrounding the event
On event day, talent and media wrangling became our main focus ensuring that photos, interviews and coverage was secured for our client.
RESULTS
Over 700 charitable attendees helped raise an impressive $500,000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada. Celebrity supporters included event host and CTV’s Anwar Knight, Dragon’s Den’s Arlene Dickinson, ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli, MTV’s Matt Barker, Fashion Model Stacey McKenzie, The Listener’s Ennis Esmer and Rainbow Sun Francks, Love It Or List It’s Hilary Farr, App Central’s Amber MacArthur, Proud FM’s Mike Chalut, The Next Star’s Mark Spicoluk and many other notable Canadians.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation Gala received over 11.4 million media impressions and was featured in over 88 stories. Media coverage included, Breakfast Television Toronto, Hello! Canada, The Huffington Post, Strategy Magazine and many more.
